Korth Waffen is a manufacturer of handguns based in Lollar. The company was founded in 1954 by Willi Korth, who was an employee of the Mauser company during World War II. It has since become part of PTW KORTH Technologies GmbH.
The revolvers and pistols produced by the weapon manufacturer Korth are mostly handmade. Only 30% of the processing is done by machines. For the handcrafting from the blanks, about 70 working hours are required, depending on the type and equipment. The resulting weapons are often elaborately decorated. The prices of the weapons distributed worldwide vary, also depending on type and design, due to the production method and the small quantities, ranging from 4,000 euros for the cheapest models to about 100,000 euros. In comparison, a pistol or revolver of good quality from factory and mass manufacturers like Heckler & Koch costs around 500 to 1,000 euros. An example of a Korth production is the anniversary edition for the 50th company anniversary, which consists of a revolver, a pistol, and a knife and cost around 25,000 euros in 2004.
The company produces only 120 to 150 weapons per year due to the time-intensive handwork. Especially the revolvers made by Korth are among the most expensive weapons of their kind today. The target group of the company consists, in addition to high dignitaries, mainly of weapon enthusiasts and collectors. In some states, Korth models are awarded as state gifts.
