The P320 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by SIG Sauer. Similar to other firearms from the same system family, the P320 is particularly characterized by the fact that it can be converted to another caliber using conversion kits without the need for special tools. However, this versatile feature does not apply to the larger .45 ACP cartridge.
A notable feature of the SIG Sauer P320 is the ambidextrous magazine release as well as the lever for releasing the slide catch. This arrangement meets the requirements of the US Army, as specified in their tender criteria.
Unlike a conventional hammer-fired pistol, the P320 has an internal striker. The firing of shots without pulling the trigger is prevented by an internal firing pin safety, instead of an external safety lever.
