A headgear protects against sun, precipitation, and mosquitoes or ticks when outdoors. Traditionally, hunters also attach the shooter’s or gamekeeper’s badge to it when laying out the game.
The most commonly used headgear in hunting practice is now the cap or the modern "baseball cap" in hunting colors, as it protects the head and allows for hearing protection to be worn over it.
For social occasions such as laying out the game and receiving the gamekeeper’s badge, however, a classic hunting hat is still a popular and stylish accessory and should be found in every hunter's equipment.
