The SIG Sauer P226 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by the German company SIG Sauer and is based on the SIG P220 model, which has been produced since 1975. Compared to the P220, the P226 features a larger double-stack magazine that now holds 15 rounds. To accommodate this larger magazine, the grip of the pistol has been slightly enlarged.
The locking of the weapon is achieved through a tilting barrel that locks into the ejection port. This design meets the requirements of the US Army, which also uses the P226, and is characterized by a magazine release that is present on both sides.
The SIG Sauer P226 is available in various calibers, including 9 mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG. Additionally, it offers various trigger mechanisms, including Double-Action, Double-Action-Only, and Double-Action with a Kellermann trigger mechanism.
