The SIG Sauer P229 is the compact variant of the popular P226. The locking mechanism is achieved through a swinging barrel that securely locks into the ejection port. In accordance with the requirements of the US Army, which also uses this weapon, the magazine release is designed to be ambidextrous.
The SIG Sauer P229 is available in various calibers, including .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 9 mm Luger, and .22 LR. Additionally, it is available with different trigger systems, including Double-Action, Double-Action-Only, and Double-Action Kellermann trigger. The P229 pistols can be easily adapted to all three calibers (9mm, .357, and .40) by exchanging the barrel and spring.
