The RX Helix originates from the esteemed Merkel traditional house and was designed as a versatile bolt-action rifle for various hunting scenarios. Thanks to this innovative solution, long guns can be disassembled without any tools, significantly easing transport. Merkel emphasizes that the RX Helix can be reduced to a nearly compact size with just three hand movements. This not only allows for a quick change of stock and barrel but also makes the weapon travel-friendly.
The straight-pull repeater with a gear ratio of 1:2 reaches a total length of 107 cm and features a 56 cm long barrel. Like many other straight-pull repeaters, the RX Helix has a manual cocking mechanism that facilitates handling.
The term "Helix" is derived from the special helix track system that has been available in various versions for this Merkel rifle since 2010. This system allows for quiet retraction and extension of the bolt head during the locking process, contributing to the naming.
