The search algorithm of Gunfinder is constantly being revised by our tech team to improve the quality of search results.

Among the latest updates is the integration of Artificial Intelligence, which evaluates the images of product offers from various platforms (such as egun, Auctronia, or VDB), dealers, and online shops, regardless of the text content of the offer. 

The result is that the search algorithm can better recognize which category (weapon, optics, ammunition, equipment, or clothing) an offer belongs to—information that is often not clear from text content, especially when it comes to complete offers (weapon & optics or accessories).

For Gunfinder users, this technical innovation provides better results in two ways:

On one hand, it allows for clearer filtering by categories, which can be set on the left side of the search window. Those searching for a "weapon" will now encounter results less frequently that are assigned to the category "optics," for example.

Furthermore, the search results are also better assessed based on their relevance, even without filtering by categories.

For instance, someone searching for a "Blaser R8" or a "Merkel Helix" is interested in rifles and possibly also these rifles in combination with a pre-mounted optic.

The search algorithm can better sort corresponding offers using image recognition and derive relevance—resulting in improved quality of search results for users.
