In late summer, the hot hunting season begins with the harvest hunts. In September, they are directly replaced by driven hunts - so August is the best time to upgrade once again, for example with a driven hunt magazine with a higher cartridge capacity than is needed for a hide or stalk.
However, as of 01.09. the new NWR II comes into force, in which the magazine capacity will also be limited in the future.
In future, so-called Hi-Cap magazines (i.e. "high capacity") will be prohibited, i.e. magazines with a capacity of more than 20 rounds for handguns and more than 10 rounds for long guns. Semiautomatics, which have fixed magazines that can hold more than ten cartridges, are also prohibited. Repeaters, however, which have fixed magazines that can hold more than ten cartridges are not affected by the ban in its current framework.
For new purchases, this means: Do not buy magazines for long guns that can hold more than 10 rounds! Magazines which are already in the own possession must either be handed in at the respective weapons authority, or an application must be made to be allowed to keep the magazine (paragraph 58 with reference to § 40, Weapons Act).
