Especially for those who obtained their hunting license after the amendment to the Weapons Act on December 13, 2019, the use of sound suppressors is common. This is a good thing, as sound suppressors bring many different advantages to hunting practice. However, especially at the beginning, when one does not yet have extensive experience, choosing a sound suppressor can be a daunting task.
We would like to present you with a few proven entry-level models of sound suppressors.
ERA SOB2: The ERA® SILENCER was developed with the goal of achieving the best possible suppression with a compact design and minimal weight – all while being fully Magnum-compatible and having a long lifespan.
The suppressors of the SOB series are designed as telescopic sound suppressors (Over-Barrel). A part of the suppressor extends backward over the barrel, allowing for very good suppression values to be realized with a short net length. Additionally, the typical first-shot noise found in other suppressors is reduced to an absolute minimum. Recoil and muzzle flash are also significantly diminished.

Nielsen Sonic 45: The Sonic 45 is an Over-Barrel sound suppressor from the Danish manufacturer Nielsen, which is said to impress with its robust design and price-performance ratio. It is made from a unique aluminum and, according to the manufacturer, has an excellent lifespan.
In the area of the bore, there are steel inserts. Its outer diameter is 45mm, and its length is 260mm. Weighing 480g, it falls into the medium weight class of sound suppressors.
Jaki 3i: The JAKI 3i is a lightweight and very effective On-Barrel sound suppressor that extends the barrel by 160 mm. The internal balance is made of stainless steel, and the suppressor body is made of alloyed aluminum. A matte black surface coating prevents reflections. The exit opening of the suppressor is approximately 1 mm wider than the diameter of the bullet. The suppressor is encapsulated, meaning it cannot be disassembled for cleaning.
B&T StarLite: The StarLite sound suppressor from B&T is based on models successfully used by authorities. It is said to impress with excellent noise suppression and good suppression of muzzle flash while being very compact and lightweight due to the use of high-strength aluminum.
A-Tec Hertz 150: The A-Tec Hertz 150 sound suppressor is one of the leading suppressors in the hunting sector. It impresses with its high suppression performance of up to 34.5 dB (tested with caliber .308 Win.). The 398 g heavy and 230 mm long suppressor can be used for a barrel diameter of up to 23.7 mm. Its own diameter is 49.5 mm, and it extends the barrel by 150 mm, meaning it sits 80 mm above the barrel.
