Austrian firearms manufacturer GLOCK has unveiled the latest generation of its popular pistol: the GLOCK G17 L Gen5 MOS. This introduction took place at the 2024 NRA Annual Meeting in Dallas, one of the most important events for gun enthusiasts. GLOCK has succeeded in developing the fifth generation of its globally popular polymer frame firing pin lock pistol. This generation stands for state-of-the-art technology and maximum reliability, characteristics that have made GLOCK one of the leading names in the firearms industry.
Latest technology and design: The G17 L Gen5 MOS
After many successful predecessor models, GLOCK is now bringing the sporty 9x19 longslide G17L up to the latest state of the art. The Gen5 technology is characterized by improved precision, durability and ergonomics. A special highlight is the integrated Modular Optic System (MOS), which enables the easy mounting of mini red dot sights.
Presentation at one of the most important firearms events
Alongside the SHOT Show, the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits are among the most important events at which new firearms are presented to a wide audience for the first time. It is therefore not surprising that GLOCK has chosen this event to present the new G17L Gen5 MOS. This event, which took place from May 17 to 19, 2024 in Dallas, Texas, provided the perfect stage to present the new pistol to visitors interested in sports.
Technical details and improvements
With a 153 mm (6 inch) barrel and corresponding slide, the GLOCK G17L is the longest pistol in the manufacturer's 9x19 portfolio. This now comprises 33 models, including the full-auto models G18 and G18C. The G17L is characterized by a sight line of 208 mm, which makes it particularly attractive for precision shooting. For shooters who want to use electronic sights in addition to mechanical sights, the new GLOCK G17L Gen5 MOS offers the option of mounting a mini red dot sight. A corresponding interface with cover plate is integrated in the slide, and the desired red dot sight can be attached quickly and easily using the appropriate adapter plate. This considerably expands the range of applications for the G17L, allowing it to be used in various shooting disciplines.
