The SM12 is the flagship bolt-action rifle from the Austrian traditional company Steyr Mannlicher. Like other bolt-action rifles in its class, the SM12 features a modern manual cocking system that is designed to be ergonomic and easy to operate, especially in driven hunting situations, while also meeting today's safety standards.
In terms of safety, the SM12 has a technical special feature - the RESET-ACTION system from Steyr Mannlicher. This is an electronic reset mechanism that detects via integrated sensors in the stock when the shooter places the weapon, for example, upright and forgets to decock it. An LED light initially alerts the shooter. However, if there is no reaction from the shooter to the light indicator, the weapon automatically decocks and secures itself, thus preventing an unintentional discharge.
The RESET-ACTION function of the Steyr Mannlicher SM12 requires a battery, which has a lifespan of about ten years, making it quite high.
The SM12 is also offered as a left-handed version at no extra charge. Custom-made designs according to customer wishes are possible at Steyr Mannlicher.
