The Heckler & Koch P7 or PSP (Police Self-Loading Pistol) is a semi-automatic pistol made of all-steel construction in 9 mm Luger caliber. The P7M10 variant has a .40 S&W caliber and is primarily intended for the American market. The pistol was developed in 1976 and features a polygonal barrel. Characteristic of the P7 is its hand tensioning system via a tension grip. This allows the weapon to remain relaxed until it is brought to aim, making a manual safety unnecessary. The tension lever is located on the grip, where the fingers wrap around it, below the trigger. By closing the hand, the shooter presses the tension lever into the grip and tensions the weapon. By loosening the grip, the weapon is relaxed again. The P7 was used for many years as an official weapon by GSG9 and other police special units. Even today, it is still used by many authorities.
