The M03 is a bolt-action rifle from Mauser, whose system, like all bolt-action rifles from the company, is based on the legendary 98 system. It is especially known and appreciated for its high degree of modularity. This technically simple yet quite high-quality rifle can be transformed in no time from a deer hunting weapon into a driven hunt rifle or even into a big game rifle by simply changing the barrel, magazine, and locking head.
Furthermore, it offers a solid safety system. The cocking lever only cocks or releases the firing pin spring just before the shot. When cycling the action, it remains or is recocked. In the secured, i.e., relaxed position, the chamber bolt is simultaneously locked against unintentional opening of the chamber when handling the weapon.
The Mauser M03 also features a magazine lock, which can be activated by turning the magazine release button to the right by 90° to lock the magazine.
Thus, Mauser offers the M03 as a hunting rifle available in various variants, which, thanks to manual cocking, a flexible trigger, and a magazine that can be locked against loss, can technically offer quite a bit.
New price: from ~€3,000
The production of the Mauser M03 was discontinued in September 2020, but spare parts for the popular bolt-action rifle are still available from Mauser.
