Cartridges of so-called large caliber are used in big game hunting.
In order to hunt big game properly, stronger bullets and thus larger calibers are required. A bullet diameter of 0.375 inch (9.53 mm) or larger is usually considered a large caliber suitable for big game hunting.
Known calibers suitable for big game are .375 H&H Magnum and the even "stronger" calibers 416 Rigby and .450 Rigby.
