The 6 .5 Creedmoor caliber is a fairly new development and is suitable for both hunting and sporting distance shooting. The cartridge with metric dimensions of 6.5 x 58 mm is based on the .308 caliber and was introduced to the market by Hornady in 2007.
6.5 Creedmoor stands for high velocity, a stretched trajectory and the highest precision.
When leaving the muzzle, a projectile in 6.5 Creedmoor has a velocity of about 870 m/s (comparison: .308 Win: 810 m/s; .300 Win Mag: 875 m/s). The velocity decreases to a lesser degree than other comparable calibers (at 1000 meters; 6.5 CM: 400 m/s; .308 Win: 315 m/s; .300 Win Mag: 390 m/s), which favors the ballistic properties of the cartridge. The 6.5 Creedmoor caliber is also very pleasant to shoot, with a much lower recoil than the .308 Win caliber.
