Trapping is a method of hunting by means of a device or apparatus that serves the purpose and is suitable to prevent wild animals from moving or to kill them. Nowadays, these devices are divided into live traps and killing traps.
Trapping can be carried out for the purpose of reducing excessive predator populations, or for the purpose of obtaining wild animal pelts.
If trapping is done with live traps, short-barreled weapons, such as pistols or revolvers, are usually used.
