The box trap is a live trap used in trapping, i.e. thetrap catches the game alive and unharmed. Mostly, elongated boxes made of wood or wire are used, whose doors/flaps close abruptly, the game inside the trap triggers the corresponding mechanism. There are different mechanisms of action depending on the design of the trap.
Box traps are often set at forced crossings, for example, stream crossings, etc.
One of the most commonly used box trap types in Germany is the rocker board trap.
