The caliber 10 mm Auto is a powerful pistol caliber with metric dimensions of 10 x 25 mm. Other designations for the caliber include 10 mm, 10 mm Norma, 10 mm FBI, and The Centimeter.
The caliber was originally the standard caliber of the FBI but was replaced by the derived caliber .40 S & W and the caliber 9 x 19 because these are easier to shoot due to their lower recoil.
In terms of precision, stopping power, and trajectory, the 10 mm Auto caliber is superior to the other two.
In Germany, the cartridge is mainly used for hunting finishing shots and sport shooting. It plays no significant role in authorities and armed forces.
The most important technical characteristics of the cartridge are:
- Speed V0: 310–480 m/s
- Maximum gas pressure: 2300 bar
- Bullet energy E0: 560-1050 Joules
