Gun purchase on Gunfinder

Gunfinder Magazine

What does purchase mean?

Our option purchase is the fastest way to sell a weapon safely and reputably online. Especially for heirloom weapons or heirloom weapon collections this is a good option, because the heirs often lack the expertise.

Basically, however, this option is interesting for anyone who wants to sell their weapon quickly without having to wait for offers and negotiate with interested parties.

For the purchase option, we work with professional gun buyers who will make you an offer for your gun within 1-2 business days. If you agree to the offer, we will prepare all the forms and help you ship the gun. You will get a fair price and have the least effort for selling your weapon.

How does the purchase work?

For the purchase we only need two pictures of the weapon and the information about the manufacturer and model. You can upload this information on our buy page and we will send you an offer.

If you accept this offer, we will arrange an appointment with you, where we will have the weapon picked up by a professional weapons logistician.

You only need to have the weapon and the master data sheet ready.

What documents do I need?

For the purchase of the weapon you need two documents: Firstly, the weapon ownership card, on which the weapon is registered. The other is the master data sheet, which is an extract from the National Weapons Register. The master data sheet was introduced only recently and it is no problem if you do not have it yet - you can request it quickly and easily at the firearms authority that is responsible for you.

Where to get the master data sheet

The master data sheet is an extract from the National Weapons Register. Write a short mail to your firearms authority, stating that you need the master data sheet for the firearm you are selling. Most authorities will send you the master data sheet before the end of the day.

Depending on the county, the firearms authority is subordinate to a different office - usually the local police station or the public order office. If you are unsure who to contact, you can call them for help. A reference is also in the weapon possession card. If you do not find what you are looking for online, you can also send us an e-mail or call us - we will be happy to help you.

Attention: Please do not blacken the document! We need all the information that is on the sheet!

My gun has a scope mounted on it - can I still sell it?

We will make you a fair offer for each weapon. If a scope is mounted on the weapon, or the mounting device is available, this is no problem and will be considered by us in the offer.

How should I pack the gun?

Pack the weapon in a cardboard box. The weapon should not be damaged by shipping. Especially if a scope is mounted on the weapon, it is recommended to pad the package.

The package does not need to be marked, shipping labels are applied by the logistics company.

Important: Report to the authorities!

After you have sold the weapon, we will send you a certificate of transfer. 14 days after the sale, you must report the transfer of your weapons to your local firearms authority. The 14-day period begins on the day on which your weapon is collected and thus effectively transferred. The firearms authority will then remove the firearm from your firearms ownership card.

The following documents must be submitted to the authority for the notification:

Please contact your firearms authority immediately to report the transfer of the firearm!

Which weapons authority is responsible for me?

Depending on where you live, different authorities are responsible for issuing weapons possession cards (and the entries). Since the enforcement of the Weapons Act in Germany is a state matter, different authorities in the counties or cities can act as weapons authorities. In most cases, however, these are the respective district administrations, the public order office or the responsible police departments. You can find out who is responsible for issuing and changing weapons possession cards at the citizens' services or at the local public order office.
